How to Trademark Registration in Oman





Trademark registration in Oman, it’s now more more efficiently and customer-friendly manner, they have recently mobilized significant efforts to rapidity up and make things easier the trademark registration formalities.

Trademark Filing Requirements:
  • Power of attorney legalized up to the Consulate of Oman.
  • Certificate of Incorporation or extract from the commercial register.
  • 10 Prints of the trademark.
  • If priority is claimed, a certified copy of the priority document should be submitted to the Trademark Office in Oman within three months of filing date.
Renewal Requirements:
  • Power of attorney legalized up to the Consulate of Oman.
Change Requirements:
  • Legalized power of attorney showing the new name and/ or address.
  • Certified copy of the certificate of change of name and/ or address.
Assignment Requirements:
  • Power of attorney legalized up to the Consulate of Oman by the assignee.
  • Legalized Deed of assignment executed by both the assignor and the assignee.
  • Certified copy of the certificate of incorporation or extract from the commercial register of the assignee.
Merger / Registered User Requirements:
  • Power of attorney legalized up to the Consulate of Oman.
  • Legalized certificate of merger or license agreement. The license agreement should indicate the trademark registration number in Oman.
  • Certified copy of the certificate of incorporation or extract from the commercial register of the licensee.
General Information:
  • Classification of Goods / Services: International classification, 1 - 45 (As of 2003, class 33 became registered).
  • Registrables: Trademarks, service marks, certification marks.
  • Claiming priority under Paris Convention: Yes.
  • Time from filing to registration: 18 months.
  • Registration duration: 10 years from filing date.
  • Renewal duration: 10 years.
  • Renewal application: Within 12 months before expiry.
  • Publication: After acceptance, in one issue of the Official Gazette and one daily newspaper.
  • Opposition period: 3 months
