Ideal for new business startups in Jebel Ali Free zone

If location is a vital element of successful international trading, then the setting up or expansion of a business into the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is surely the best of moves, especially if your customers and clients lie both to the east and west – think Asian and European markets, with you and your business placed smack in the middle!

There are many great benefits of Business Set-Up in  UAE  Free Zone. However, you cannot set up a business within the local market without partnering with a UAE national. And even if you do so, i.e. in association with a UAE national, you as a foreigner will only ever be allowed to own up to 49% of the business. That’s the way UAE law operates. There’s nothing you can do about it.

Company Formation in Jebel Ali Free Zone is a whole different ball game, with each aimed at a particular business sector. There are dozens of them spread across the seven emirates which make up the UAE. For informational purposes, the seven UAE emirates are Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah, and Umm al-Quwain. The capital of the UAE is Abu Dhabi city, which is located within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi (the emirate’s official name).

Free zone benefits are eye-catching to say the least. Personal or corporate income is not subject to taxation in the UAE. However, bear in mind that Dubai, for example, charges a municipal tax on property rentals. A number of free zones are aimed at encouraging investment, with all offering complete tax free incentives of anything up to fifty years. Other free zone benefits include no foreign exchange controls and no trade barriers or quotas; competitive import duties (4% with many exemptions); competitive energy and real estate costs; and competitive financing costs and high levels of liquidity. Sounds more and more like the ideal place to do business!

And there’s more. Maybe you want to get a business up and running quickly, perhaps within days as opposed to weeks and months, but without the headache usually associated with red tape, regulation and paperwork – even when all of that bureaucracy has been cut down literally to the bare bones, as is the case within the UAE. Then leave everything in the hands of a professional company filled with experts who know the UAE business scene inside out. It’ll cost, of course, but you won’t have the headache.

Process for Trademark Registration in UAE

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is one of the largest business hubs in the world. If you live there it's imperative that you register your business trademark to not only legally protect your brand and intellectual property, but to also differentiate yourself from the competition.

What Is A Trademark?

The UAE Federal Law No (37) of 1992 defines a trademark as any distinguished form of words, signatures, graphics, titles, seals, announcements, pictures, letters, figures, marks or group of marks that are intended to be used in distinguishing goods, products, and services.

When you register your trademark in the UAE you will be registering it in the seven states: Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Sharjah, and Fujairah.

How To Register Your Trademark In UAE

The ministry of economy is the one that is responsible for registering your trademark. When you visit the ministry you will find the UAE trademarks office where everything will be handled.

The first step to getting the trademark registration in UAE  is search where the office will run a search on your trademark to ensure that there is no dispute associated with it. You should note that you have to pay $270 and the pre-filling search report will be delivered in your email in 15 working days.

Once everything is okay, you will progress with the registration where you need to apply for registration. When sending your application. it has to be accompanied with these documents:
A Power of attorney (PoA): which has been notarized by the Notary public and legalized up to the consulate.

Registration order form: this is a form that is usually provided by Kaizen. You should fill and send it together with your application.

Soft copy: in addition to sending your trademark in hardcopy format, you should also send it in softcopy. The ministry requires that it should be in JPEG format.

ID card: this is to proof your identity.

Priority application: if you want your application to be given priority you should attach a certified copy of the application.

Points To Note

When sending your application you need to pay the registration fee which is usually $1,620. This fee covers the service that you will be offered and the official filing fees.

While you can undergo the registration hustle on your own, if you have money you can always hire advisors to handle the entire process for you. The cool thing with working with advisors is that they are knowledgeable thus will be through with the process within a very short time. Also, once you pay the advisor's fee, you only need to sit back and wait for registration to take place.
